The Carolina Panthers kickoff their season with a strong performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Starting quarterback, Cam Newton sat out the season opener, nursing a rib injury. His backup, Derek Anderson, completed 23 of 34 pass attempts for 230 yards and two touchdowns. Other impressive moves go to: Greg Olsen with eight receptions for 83 yards; Kelvin Benjamin had six for 92 yards. The Panthers win it, 20 – 14.
